The app is similar to that of Instagram but without the fussy algorithm and irritating advertisements.

A mix of various features

At its core, you can consider Hive Social as a nostalgic mashup of different social media. On your profile page, you will have two columns. One is for text, and one is for photos and videos. It's like having an Instagram and Twitter in one app. You can like, reply, and repost any post from other accounts. More, It has a chronological timeline that maximizes content engagement.

The app made a major callback to the beginning of social media by allowing users to add a background song to their profile. Like MySpace, the audio will play whenever other users visit your page.  You can add multiple songs to your profile. However, only the first song you choose is free. The succeeding songs will cost $.99 a pop.

Design-wise, Hive Social shares more similarities to Instagram. It comes with a grid and a feed, where you can follow other users and content based on your interests. You can check out the latest trending posts and featured posts. The app seems to try to democratize the social media experience. Anyone can monetize their accounts as soon as they sign up.

This makes the app a perfect place for influencers and online marketing affiliates. Unlike Instagram, you are not limited to posting a link in your bio. In this app, you can add links to your captions. You can even comment with URLs that you want to promote.  

Hive Social is an app that brings everything you want from other platforms. However, while it seems promising, there are still things that its developers need to patch up. As it is now, the user experience is still not at par with the popular social networking sites. Browsing can be a bit difficult, the layout is not really designed to encourage interaction, and the app is ridden with various bugs and frequent crashes.

An app with lots of potential

All in all, Hive Social has all the tools to make it big in the world of social media. The features may not be original, but combining them gives users a brand-new and more unified social experience. However, as it stands, the app has numerous things that it needs to work on first to improve usability and performance in general. There's a limitation to its features, and the app still has bugs that need addressing as soon as possible.
